With no wind forcast and hot and sunny weather I thought it a good opportunity to check out the flatwater windsurfing potential of Dovercourt and the marshes around Horsey Island at the back of Walton on the Naze :) So after quick stops at Mistley and Harwich we parked up by the double lighthouses in Dovercourt for lunch. We decided to bike from here and headed off along the prom to the end where the kiters launch-nice spot.We continued around South Hall Creak to Irlam Beach where we locked the bikes and continued on foot along the beach the mile to end of Pewit Island and it was stunning !!! you could have been in the Caribbean and we did'nt see a soul :) Also found some great windsurfing spots especialy at low water with lots of sand bars and warm water !!! Then back to the bikes for refreshments and continue along the sea wall to the wild fowlers quay, met some lovelly people who told us all about the area and then back along the roads through Little Oakley to the van.Met a sup /boarder out for a cruise who filled me about sailing spots and then fish and chips at the carpark at the end of the prom where we stayed the night :)
